Many of my last posts have taken a small piece of the marketing puzzle and examined that small piece in detail When I decided to learn how to make money with the Internet, I started downloading everything that I could get my eyes on concerning how to market on the net I must have been on 20 lists and the e-mail assault was prodigious!

To add to the problem, no matter how careful you are about which lists you sign up for, sooner or later you get on a list that sells your info and you can count on lots of SPAM Early in my self-training it was not unusual for me to sort through 30 or 40 e-mails a day On balance I would say that it was worth the aggravation I did sort out what was going on and as I started to learn I was able to start dropping from lists that were not helpful That included lists that had some different magic bullet for sale every day The money is in the list, they say, but you can go to the well too often! There will be another article coming soon on list and integrity building

At this point in my education I had visions of Internet fairies dancing in my head There was list building and squeeze page and products and affiliates, there was click bank and commission junction, aweber and auto responders There were joint ventures and free gifts and forums and articles, there were well, you get it

Let me see if I can put the puzzle together for you I am going to show you how the pieces fit together, but you will still have to learn how to build each piece

First you have a product that you want to sell Next you need some one to sell it to All the pieces are designed to achieve this final outcome They pay you for a product that they want that will help them solve a problem The problem could be how to cook a cake or how to sell on the Internet Again, with emphasis: You’re job is to SOLVE their problem

Next you need a website that will give your prospect a free, but useful gift In exchange they will give you their e-mail address At this point you are building your list The next step is to have the person confirm that they want the free gift This is called “double opt in “

Now you tell them where they can view or down load the free gift Finally you direct them to the sales page that will explain to them why they need what you are selling to solve their problem

There is one BIG step that we have left for the end It is the crucial step and, in my humble opinion, it is the most important and most complicated Considering it as one step is a misnomer because it has many sub parts The name of this puzzle part is Traffic

You have to let people know where you are and what you have to offer The more people that you can reach, the more people will see your offer and, of course, the more sales you will make

I hope that this puzzle piece will help you see the big picture of how the myriad parts fit together How to get that traffic is the subject of an upcoming article
